It didn't take too long to make, although the glue that I used was really stinky.

Here they are on the kitchen table drying. Hopefully they're dry enough by tomorrow so that I can send it off to a friend as a gift. Hopefully she'll be surprised.

I'm planning on making a Marie Antoinette fridge set. I've already chosen all the pictures that I'm going to use, just need to get over the glue fumes before I can start on those.

Flower Photography

This is the first of my flower series. To be technical, he's an ape (he hasn't got a tail), but the word "monkey" is cuter than the word "ape" so I'm just gonna go ahead and keep calling him a monkey.

Here he is chilling out, maxing, relaxing, all cool.

I've made a second monkey for The Boyfriend's sister. She's going to give it to her friend's daughter. Since it's going to an actual child, I've reinforced the seams for the neck, arms, and legs.

I've thought about selling monkeys, but it takes me around 10-12 hours of knitting. If I charge for materials plus an hourly rate (for the sake of the example, let's keep it at min wage), the monkey would cost around $110. I think I might have trouble convincing people to pay that much for their child's toy.

On a brighter note: according to Canada Post my sewing machine should be delivered today. Hurrah!

First Post!

So this is my first post on this blog and I feel compelled to show you something that I have made while it (the handmade project) is in its infancy.

    Ta da! --->

That is a scarf I made as a gift for Christmas 2009. I used baby alpaca silk blend yarn. It was so soft I wanted to keep the scarf for myself.

I can't take credit for the beautiful pattern, though. It's from knitty.com. I think it's called "Falling Leaves" or something to that effect. Anyhoo, the project turned out beautifully, recipient was happy, and I got lace-knitting practice. Win, win, and win.
